Double bill: Kieran Spiers - ‘Mondo Cane’ / Sean Wai Keung - ‘Fortune’

  • Attenborough Arts Centre Lancaster Road Leicester, England United Kingdom (map)

Kieran Spiers has been writing something. It's about death and love and self-image. He knows that he'd like to share it with a group of strangers. He wonders whether those strangers would be family. He'd like to know if he can trust you. If he can trust strangers with stories and information? And if he cannot, he'd like to find a way through that.
This exchange mixes storytelling, concrete poetry and mythology to consider our place in all this. What happens when it's over, before it's over or before it's even begun.

Kieran is a writer and theatre-maker based in Lincoln. He actively produces the Lincoln MashUp and is a former associate artists of New Perspectives. Kieran’s work has been produced at the 10X10 New Writing Festival at Chesil Theatre, shortlisted for the HERE WE GO festival in New York and has been nurtured and developed within the East Midlands.

Sean Wai Keung presents a mixture of three narratives through the form of an after-meal snack feast. Exploring concepts including appropriation, immigration and racism, FORTUNE has been described as "simple but sophisticated" by Kate Wyver of The Guardian.

Sean Wai Keung is a Glasgow based performance maker and writer with interests in food, migration and mixed-race identity. He has developed and performed work with the National Theatre of Scotland, Anatomy Arts and Rhubaba Art Gallery amongst others. He is a Magnetic North 2020 Micro-Commission recipient and was also awarded the 2020 Theatre Stepping Stones Award from the Scottish Arts Club.

This performance will have BSL interpretation.
