A Natural Oasis? is a Transnational Research Program; a nomadic free school curated by Alessandro Castiglioni and Simone Frangi supported by the BJCEM Association.  It is dedicated to the development of new curatorial research paths in the field of contemporary visual and performing arts starting from the geopolitical peculiarities and the artistic scenes of those European and Mediterranean territories that are commonly considered remote, marginal, small, insular or liminal. The current edition of A Natural Oasis (2018-2020) particularly investigates the notion of insularity from a geopolitical and social point of view as well as its impact on cultural production.  

Institutions, education and the curatorial: beyond the rhetoric of the alternatives

UK Young Artists has invited the participants of A Natural Oasis to Nottingham for the City Takeover to continue their research, and invite local artists, curators and researchers to participate in an afternoon of presentations and discussions.

10.30 - 13.00 Introduction by Nottingham Contemporary Team and Brief introduction to the research fellows of A Natural Oasis? (2018-2020).

- Presentation of the Independent Studies Program Campus by Carolina Rito and Sofia Lemos
- Discussions and sharing session
