Bohyeon Kim

Bona Bohyeon Kim is a London-based Korean artist who just completed MFA Fine Art Painting at the Slade School of Fine Art in 2018. Over the years, she has been challenging beyond a typical painting-form using parallel language across ‘Painting and Sculpture’ in which the form of art can represent the multiple dimensionality in embracing found objects and photographs to her pictorial space. Her practice to date has largely centered on composition in deconstructed form as a pictorial concerned with the layering of colour, shape and texture. Recently She has made works using digital prints, combining these with sculptural paintings and objects which usually rely on wall and floor for three-dimensional form.

X TIME with Y ZONE

I am interested in challenging the boundaries between painting and non painting, with sculptural concerns exploring structures, materiality, and photogram. I tend to combine found objects and digital images into my painting, especially those that can reveal the aspects of three-dimensional anthropomorphic identities, and surreal and mythological qualities. I am also questioning the contemporary age of information and digitalisation of uncertainty and fragility in between analogue and digital. The using of photographic language is the pictorial format of embracing all the different and unknown things around a new space in which multi layers of time made through system of digital space. I see every part of my work as archiving these potentials for discrete segments of time and space.
