Pepa Duarte
Pepa Duarte is a Peruvian actor, writer and theatre maker based in London. As a multi-disciplined actor who is ‘always writing and always moving’ her unique process creates from the performative space and often explores themes of identity, migration, feminism and belonging.
Graduating in 2018 from the master’s degree Theatre Laboratory at RADA, a program focused on devising and physical theatre, Pepa is highly trained in acting, improvisation, movement, and comedy.
Her work is constantly pushing boundaries to create unique, experiential and challenging pieces responding to the demands of social change.
“Eating Myself” Pepa’s first solo show was commissioned by Battersea Arts Centre and supported by Arts Council England, CASA Festival, AppleCart Arts, Golden Goose Theatre, FLAWA Festival and Peruvian Embassy. In 2021, ‘Eating Myself’ was part of the International Performing Arts Festival of Lima thanks to the British Council.
Her next project ‘Migran-te’ is an outdoors multidisciplinary performance exploring the intimate and ritualistic act of ‘having tea’ in Latin America and the reconstruction of one’s identity after crossing the border. ‘Migran-te’ is commissioned by Counterpoint Arts for Platforma Festival 2021 in Yorkshire
