About Lincoln Excellence

Lincoln Excellence is a new collective of young LGBTQ+ artists, founded by UK New Artists and Laurie Belgrave, the founder of  The Chateau, working to bring exciting events and happenings to the city, in response to the severe lack of safe(r) spaces for queer youth in the area. The collective has been working together since March 2023 on a series of new activities.

Lincoln Excellence believes in excellence for everyone. They want to shine the light on those in the queer community who don’t get enough praise for all the culture inspirations and talent they give us. Lincoln Excellence makes creativity shimmer and queer artists shine.

As part of their inaugural programme in October 2023, Lincoln Excellence organised a free screening of the cult classic, ‘Kinky Boots’ in collaboration with Lincoln Arts Centre. Currently, they are collaborating with Obscene Pomegranate founders, Cat Anderson and Emily Collyer, on Issue 2 of the LGBTQ+ creative zine, scheduled for release in early 2024.

Additionally, the collective has been working on a Ballroom Showcase featuring artists from the Welsh Ballroom Community. Unfortunately, the event had to be postponed due to Storm Babet and has been rescheduled to take place in early 2024.
