Rachel Burn
Rachel Burn makes dances to connect people. They are made from the stuff that makes up life, mundane or profound, and set scenes musically in manageable chapters. Preferring to work with groups, and habitually with women, she loves shape, pattern and empathy. Detailed and highly visual, Burn creates sense with meaningful movement sequences offering an open and sensitive narrative for the audience to inhabit.

A dance scratching the surface of Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass, a poetic and philosophical exploration of what it means to be part of the human community.
ÉI exist as I am, that is enough,
If no other in the world be aware I sit content,
And if each and all be aware I sit content
Crossing from familiarity to freshness, three women find newness in small detail within a monochrome world; they move through scenes as through pockets of the poem, sharing energy, togetherness, quiet and solitude; spending time and thought on the threshold between ‘this’ world and ‘that’.
