Kristaps Ancans
Born 1990 in Latvia. In 2014 graduated from Art Academy of Latvia and been awarded with Vilhelma Purvisa Grant in Arts. Received Cecil Lewis Sculpture Scholarship and moved to London in 2014 to study MA Fine Arts at Central Saint Martins. After graduation in 2016 has been awarded with Helen Scott Lidgett Studio Award. Kristaps works cross disciplines, his work includes kinetic sculpture, painting and other. He has been working internationally since 2013 taking part in exhibitions, projects and residencies in Russia, Japan, Estonia, France, United Kingdom, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia. Latest exhibitions includes ‘This is Us’ , Museum of London, and ‘Something happened on the way from Mars’ , Futuro House.
LAYOUT
Performing object. The object changes a state from the cube to the layout with help of a mechanism and a human. This work plays with the idea of the representativeness and its' translation.
