Jessica Lloyd Jones

Jessica Lloyd-Jones is a visual artist working at the intersection of art and science - investigating concepts of energy and natural phenomena through the experimental use of materials and light to provide new perspectives on the world in which we live.  In her sculptural work, Jessica often creates physical forms as ‘containers’ of light conveying the human desire to capture and store energy, while her site-specific creations focus on the interaction and engagement of work within public space.

"COAL WORKS" & "ANITOMICAL NEON"

Merging art, science and technology, my energy inspired sculpture and installations manipulate materials and light to reveal new perspectives on the world in which we live. Questioning the boundary between science fiction and fact, much of my work has evolved through research and investigation into a broad range of subject matter linked to natural phenomena including bioelectricity and geochemistry. Neon Bulb: Developed from research into the history of electric light vacuum tubes. The work references the human pursuit to contain energy - its darkness acts as a mechanism in the attempt to invert light and prevent escape.
