Maja Zećo - ‘Silencer’ (roaming performance)

  • Beginning outside The Guildhall Museum Leicester, England (map)

Silencer is a performance in a sensory impairment soundwalking suit. The surface of the suit is covered with soft panels that absorb urban noise. The suit also comes with sound-cancelling headphones that allow the performer to experience the environment in almost complete silence. Silencer conceals the body shape and gender of the performer. By altering senses and appearances, the work tackles the sense of displacement and otherness in interaction with passers by and the site of the performance. Silencer was performed in London (University of Arts London - Elephant and Castle) and Aberdeen (City Centre and Peacock Visual Arts).

Location

The performance will begin outside the Guildhall Museum, then travels via the Cathedral, St Martin’s Square, New Walk, The Y, Premier Inn Hotel.

You are welcome to follow the entire performance, or to pop by/stumble upon Maja’s work as it traverses the city.

No need to book tickets.
