UKYA Welcomes new Artist Ambassadors

UKYA's Artist Ambassadors are an invited group of artists who have been involved with our work either showing at our National and International platforms or as part of our creative development activities. We select artists from the broadest art forms and geographic spread inviting them to 'give back' by becoming Artist Ambassadors for one year. A key aspect of the role is to actively  support young artists to grow and develop their creativity and to act as a talent spotter for UKYA. They do this in a number of ways by attending UKYA Events, advocating for UKYA at events across the country and through their cultural networks, making sure the best artists find us. Artist Ambassadors also support our work by offering advice & top tips at workshops and talks and in 2018 will act as mentors to young artists. We in turn continue to support their practice and professional development as artists and cultural leaders.

Our first group of ambassadors have given invaluable support to UK Young Artists; travelling up and down the country (and to South Korea!) attending events, selection panels, delivering workshops and talks, performing at dinners and launches and mentoring artists new our Emerging Curator, Joe. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our 2016/17 ambassadors, Matthew John Atkinson, Rosalind Davis, Viviana Rocha, Jean-Pierre Nyamangunda, Madeline Shann and Liz West. You will always be a treasured part of the UKYA family and we look forward to seeing you and your work taking the world by storm!

Artist Ambassadors play an important role and one which we are keen to develop over the coming years. This year's Ambassadors have been selected because we felt that they were all quality making artists who are daring, ambitious, independent, creative, collaborative and internationally-focused; values and ambitions close to the UKYA heart.
- Michelle Bowen, Director of UKYA
