UKYA & Platform Nord are pleased to announce a new international joint working programme for young artists to gain a better understanding of international working and the value of intercultural dialogue. United will be delivered in two parts: part one will be held in Leicester in the UK, and part two will be held in Kristiansand, Norway. UK Young Artists are seeking up to five UK-based artists to join four Nordic-based artists on this programme. We are looking for outstanding young emerging artists/companies wishing to develop an international career in the arts and culture sector to be part of the United programme, a  nearly six month programme from June 2019 – October 2019 in partnership with Platform Nord.

  • United will offer opportunities to participate in residencies in the UK and Norway. These will take place in Leicester (18-21 June 2019) & Platform Nord, Kristiansand (9-13 October 2019)

  • United participants will engage in a dynamic programme of events, such as workshops, talks, field-trips, performances, exchanges, one-to-one sessions and discussion groups both in the UK and Norway.

United will also provide artists with

  • £500 cash towards ongoing practice and/or development of ideas formed through United

  • Opportunity to meet and network with leading sector specialists, artists and other arts protagonists from UK and Norway/Europe

  • Shared (twin room) accommodation in UK and Norway

  • Return travel to and from UK to Norway

  • Support towards travel costs within the UK to and from Leicester

  • Most meals will be covered although expect some costs for drinks and other subsistence

    Who Is Eligible?

    UKYA are looking for up to five outstanding young emerging artists/companies based in the UK wishing to develop an international career and meet the following criteria:

    • Must be aged 18–30 (on or by Monday 22 April 2019) and be allowed to work or study in the UK at the time of making this application.

    • Artists must demonstrate an original voice within their work

    • Artists must demonstrate an appetite to develop their work or practice internationally

    • UKYA are able to see how they are able to support the international development of your practice

    • Must be available for the the two parts of the programme

    Artists working within the following

    Applied arts: ceramics, glass, textiles, jewellery, fashion, printmaking

    Design:  industrial, graphic and product design

    Digital Art: digital art, interactive and immersive work

    Literature: writing, poetry, storytelling and spoken word.

    Moving image: film, documentary, artist video and animation.

    Music:  all genres of music will be considered from individuals, bands and collaborations.

    Performance: theatre, dance, live art, and sound art

    Fine Arts: fine art, photography, installation, illustration, sound art, site-specific work and sculpture.
