Lincoln Weekender: 2" Deep 2" Wide
A residency by Frédéric Xavier Liver, curated by
Claudio Zecchi.
Friday 29 May - Monday 1 June 2020, Lincoln.
With 2'' Deep 2'' Wide Frédéric Xavier Liver continues his research on playgrounds in public spaces. Starting from the signs and symbols of basketball, the objective will be, through a series of workshops, to rethink and turn away certain elements of the playground, such as lines, nets, jerseys, etc. The project will be activated by the selection of 8 artists – a basketball team is made by 5 players – so we will be looking for potential cooperation with the local communities and University of Lincoln students. Artists will then be invited to express their imagination in order to create their ideal jersey and playground, and share this new space in a collective performance. The playground will be a privileged space for physical training, but also a meeting place and a shared aesthetic experience.
With Michael Jordan's jersey on our shoulders and a ball in hand we will try to define and craft our playground to be able to share it and play together over the following days. Whether you are curious, a student, a teacher, an artist, an institution or a member of the public, come and play with us.
This project was unfortunately cancelled due to Covid-19. UKNA looks forward to working with Claudio Zecchi and Frédéric Xavier again in the future.
